1. The Transaction is obviously very old and illegable.
ReplyDelete2. The next slide is the Transaction written in Dutch, i still understand none of it.
3. A picture of New Amsterdam,It looks alot smaller than the manhattan we know today, many trading ships or merchant visitors surround it, pulling in and out of the harbor.
4. A picture of New Amsterdam,it looks really dirty and unorganized if the depiction is accurate. However a church seems to be the tallest building, this proves the people of that day were religious.
5. Indians in cannoe's look as though they are begging the people in frivilous outfits for something. Empty ropes imply people are to be hanged later.
6. A farm that looks like it is in shambles,siding is falling off the house. Everything looks like it's old and worn out.
7. Looks like the forests are being cut down more and more to build boats and houses for the colonists, the indians watch helplessly.
8. Perhaps the English are driving out the Dutch? The mother looks like shes running and dragging her child from the men with weapons outside the city gates.
9. This picture is in color and it looks like the economy is getting better, a farmer walks his cow.
10. This sketch of New Amsterdam implies that there are still many Indians living in the area
11. In this photo it looks as if the buildings are getting taller and the town is building up.
12. Someone is being hung, or was hung and is being displayed because he is facing sideways.
13. Looks the most like a photograph, I believe this ships are English not Dutch.

15. Peter Minuit has a pretty cool beard and interesting hat choice.

17. Wouter Van Twiller, I don't think the artist was fond of him because he depicts him morbidly obese, perhaps he infact was obese however.
18. William Kieft, he looks like a stern guy, i can tell by his wrinkles.

20. Styvesant terrorizing the people, perhaps they are one of the many kinds of people he dislikes (ex. Jews)

ReplyDeleteSlide 1- windmills are present. We see big ship. This is New Amsterdam and the wall to keep the French out.
Slide 2- Transaction of the purchase of New Amsterdam. Purchased by the Dutch, document is official with signature.
Slide3- (explanation)
Slide 4-Shows the small town, houses very close together. Looks like there may be one church, but you can see there is not much. Many trading ships.
Slide 5- We see what is possibly a church, and more boats. I think those are Native Americans in the smaller canoe/ kayack thing.
Slide 6- Native Americans and Dutch. Dutch do not like Native Americans very much. They are completly different customs and traditions. They kind of use the Native Americans in a way. We see the hang place where if the people think someone deserves death penalty, it will be given.
Slide 7-House of the old New Ampsterdam. We see a horse outside which could be used for transportation or for other needs. Cross on top.
Slide 8- Port where trading took place. Natives and Dutch are both in picture. At this point they share the land.
Slide 9- Windmill in background. We see a Dutch mother and son. Could be from the American Revolution, people are armed with guns.
Slide 10-Houses and land , person has young cow for either trade or some sort of profit.
Slide 11-Natives in boat in front. an overview of the new land. Shows main lqandscape and shows windmills.

slide 1. in this picture you see the windmill which means it is before the mid 1700s because the church was the highest point then. you also see the ship coming into the harbor and you see the new Amsterdam fort.
ReplyDeleteslide 2. this is the copy of the purchase of new Amsterdam by the dutch from the native Americans. you can see that they paid 60 guilders in addition to multiple animals' skins. you see the agreement made my peter minuit and the local director of the dutch west india company.
slide 3. this is a picture of new amsterdam in 1626. again you see the windmill because it is the highest point in the fort. you also see the houses all together and then not that many more around them because there was not that many settlers. but you see more people coming in on the ships most likely from Holland bringing more dutch people.

New Amsterdam 1626. The ships are heading towards the housing. There could be pirates on the ships.
Novum New Amsterdam. The ships are damaged and look like they were attacked.
This is the post where people were hanged. There are also Native Americans in the area.
This is a little part of town where there may have been farms, as well as a church and place where goods can be bought.
There is someone who just hunted what looks like a deer. There are Native Americans also waiting by the water. There is also someone fixing the roof on a house.

This picture shows Native Americans and Dutch men (or pirates) bringing in chests of treasure from the water.
Wouter Van Twiller was an employee of the Dutch West India Company. He had succeeded Peter Minuit.
William Kieft was a governor of New Amsterdam. Kieft attempted to tax and eventually drive out the Native Americans.
Peter Stuyvesant was also a governor of New Amsterdam. He succeeded in fixing New Amsterdam and cleaning it up.
It looks like that is Peter Stuyvesant and he is ordering around everyone, trying to clean up New Amsterdam.
This shows Peter Stuyvesant's temper and how he always wanted things his way no matter what.

3) This is another picture of New Amsterdam that seems to be at the begining , the city seems abandoned because it looks dirty but it might have been because they were still settling there.

1)More settlers are moving into New Amsterdam. They are seeing trade. You also see the tallest point, the windmill. They have many settlers in New Amsterdam.
ReplyDelete2)peter Minuit wrote an agreement with the Lenape. The agreement was reported by Peter Schaghe.
3)In 1626 many people are traveling to New Amsterdam. They are settlers coming to settle in New Amsterdam.
4)This is showing all the work they have done in New Amsterdam and how it is improving. All the housing they have built and how settlement is coming along.
5)This is the place where they hanged intruders, or anyone else trying to ruin their settlement. The inidans are in the boat.
6)this looks like a battle has taken place, or the money have run out in New Amsterdam. It seems that they are now going through a stuggle, with the broken wood and the one shop open.
7)It seems to be that people are entering new Amsterdam or they went through a flood. The people are trying to pull the boat onto land, but it looks like the house is under water, or has sunken in the ground.
8) They look like they're going into a war zone and trying to get the women and children into safety. It seems that it has became a bit hectic in New Amsterdam.

10) Many ships are moving into New Amsterdam. You see a wide settlement improving and many settlers heading in. Many settlers are rowing their boats in.

12)People are coming in and doing alot of trading. You see alot of ships coming in to also trade.
