Todays Assignment -3D New Amsterdam

1. Comment on 3D New Amsterdam - Located on The Right under Videos under Broadside Film... when you get to the Broadside film scroll down to From Colonial New York to Restoration London and click on the video......

2. Please View the video PBS Doc film 1 to the right and please list 10 facts about the video....

    The woodlands are shown as much greater in the area
    The rivers served as a purposeful form of travel and trade due to its convenience
    The natural resources and environment served as a very useful place to live for new settlers

  10. You can see the Hudson River. People are working on the docs. People are also working on their houses. Ski sloped roofs is clearly evdent. The windmill is the tallest point in the view which you can see from anywhere.

  15. 1. Rivers were abundent everywhere
    2. the cattle were in the feild and chimneys pumped smoke out.
    3. Indian's were in town speaking/ perhaps trading with colonial people.
    4. There was an excessive amount of wildlife, almost unbelievable knowing what NYC is like today.
    5. Windmills were churning
    6. Peter Styvestant wants to fight the incoming Englishmen, but the guy with the telescope tells him no one is willing to fight.
    7. A fire broke out and a storm as well, the English ships were being battered from the storm
    8.It looked like somewhere i wouldn't want to live, at first i considered it, but there were frequent storms that the people were not prepared for.

    10. Everyone used horses and dirt roads for travel

  16. there were many rivers surrounding the land which made it easy for trade. they also had great natural resources. there were plenty of forests around the land. you can see where the dutch lived.

  18. Manhattan of 1664 displays many farms lands with farm animals which would never be imagined to have been there. There is also a lot of land and space between each land which is what can be seen today in the country.Styvesant appears in the video discussing the English and what they were preparing for New Amsterdan with all their weapons and supplies.We are also able to see the huge fire in NY.

    -Peter Stuyvesant wanted to go into battle with the British but the people pleaded with him for him not to
    -ski-sloped roofs on the houses, that was how the Dutch built there houses

It is an ugly city, a dirty city. Its climate is a scandal. Its politics are used to frighten children. Its traffic is madness. Its competition is murderous. But there is one thing about it -- once you have lived in New York and it has become your home, no other place is good enough.
